Contest Reports 2007 Hotdoggers Longboard Surf Club - League Number 4 2007. The final club contest of 2007 ran successfully on Saturday the 13th of October at Saunton beach in classic autumn swells. Despite some drizzle early morning, the day was dry and warm. A very rare luxury combination for a surf contest. The waves were clean and on occasions well overhead providing for challenging conditions, not least of all a long paddle out. All categories were hard fought with the competitors having their final chance to grab points for their overall end of year league placings. Results:Ladies: 1. Hazel Ilett 2. Jules Marlowe 3. Chris Brunt Second Skin / Errant Final League contest - 22nd September Saturday the 22nd of September entertained the Hotdoggers by allowing them to run the last league event which had been cancelled due to lack of surf. The day dawned with warm clean and rideable if somewhat small surf and the day was a great end to a busy contest season for the club. A one off special 'big wave' event remains which will be called on at short notice when a big swell is predicted. Visit the clubs website for information. Saturdays contest was well attended and more and more members are joining in the contest fun. The results were unsurprising in most categories with Ben Haworth winning the open, Adrian Howell taking the Masters, Rebecca Pepperell taking the ladies and Callum Clarke winning the juniors. The junior event was particularly well attended and it was great to see more youngsters getting into competitive longboarding. Little Sam Cavin came up from the South Coast to compete in his first ever surf contest and at only 9 years old made second place in the juniors, an astonishing achievement for such a young lad against older and more experienced juniors. The club has for a long time been the breeding ground for local talent and the club has continued its success this year boasting British Champion, English and British Junior Champion, European Champion and British Ladies Champion. Next year looks just as promising. Previous Contest Reports 2006 Well done to everyone who has entered any of our comps during 2006. There were loads of contests to enter and 2007 promises to be even busier.
