The sun shone at Breaking the Barrier at Saunton – 37 learning disabled surfers made it into the water enabled by the fantastic Saunton Hotdoggers who came out in force to support these amazing young people and their families.
We were also joined by the amazing Energia Samba Band who gave their time and added a lovely rhythm to the day.
This day was made possible with incredible local support in the water – THANK YOU Saunton Hotdoggers and Saunton Sands Surf Life Saving Club for making these young people so very happy. And there were other local folk helping to make the event happen: Saunton Beach Villas who provided free parking for all our volunteers, the Saunton Break Café who provided sustenance in the way of a cold ice cream for each young surfer and Surfed Out who kitted out all our surfers. Also huge thanks to the Aviva Community Fund for their support of the event. Thank you so much Carolyn J Seager for the fantastic photos.
“Thank you for a fab day, F had a fantastic time, so much so he hired a board and went back in on Sunday. All the staff were amazing with him and he felt totally safe at all times…It was so lovely to watch them supporting him and helping him…We can’t thank you enough, it was a truly amazing experience.”
